Crumb Quilts by Emily Bailey

The essence of this book is to take your small scraps, crumbs that are bigger than 1 inch square, create fabric out of them and then use this as part of a quilt either as a block or a background, appliqué or as small items. The problem with having patterns for crumb quilts is that they can only ever be a starting point because no two people will ever have the same scraps. And some of these quilts take a lot of scraps so you have to have made quite a few quilts to have this many.

Anyway, that aside, there are some good patterns in here but you would need to buy fabric unless you have a really vast stash with quite a lot of fabric in some designs for backgrounds etc.

I did like the pinwheel, easy to make out of half square triangles that could be made and cut all in one and Night sky which has an inky-blue background with colourful stars in a variety of styles, sizes and designs. it’s just that I don’t have any inky-blues. This pattern I will copy and keep.

A useful book with some inspirational ideas.
